Opportunities for students
Students are vital contributors to our organization. They are put to the test in a dynamic and challenging work environment that encourages collaboration, values innovation, and provides meaningful career experience.
Although the number and types of opportunities vary by term, we frequently recruit students from academic fields such as Business Administration/Commerce, Communications, Computer Engineering/Information Systems, Criminology, Economics, Human Resources, International Relations, Law, Mathematics, Political Science, Public Administration, and Social Sciences.
Most student positions are located in Ottawa. However, opportunities may also be available in our Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver offices.
Students applying for FINTRAC opportunities must be Canadian citizens, and must meet the requirements for a Secret security clearance to be considered. For more information, please consult our Security and suitability requirements.

Co-op education programs
Co-op is a post-secondary education program in which classroom instruction alternates with semesters of work placement related to the student's field of study. Co-op work terms begin in early January, May or September, and generally last for a period of four or eight months depending upon the program requirements. If the organization and type of work are a good fit, students may be offered subsequent placements.
Students who wish to apply for a co-op placement must do so through the co-op education program office of their college or university.
Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP)
FSWEP is a program which offers full-time students work experience in the federal public service. To be eligible, students must be registered at a recognized institution (e.g. CEGEP, college, university, etc.) and must be returning to full-time studies in the next academic term.
The program is administered by the Public Service Commission on behalf of all departments and agencies. Please visit GC Jobs to apply for their ongoing student recruitment inventory.
Student bridging is a staffing option available to managers to facilitate the integration of recent graduates after the successful completion of their education program. A student who completed at least one work term or placement with the federal public service though a Co-op Education Program or FSWEP may be eligible for bridging into a temporary or permanent position, providing the essential criteria and conditions of employment are met.
