As of August 31, users will benefit from many enhancements to the appearance and navigation of our online reporting site, F2R. These build on changes made earlier this year as part of FINTRAC's ongoing efforts to make F2R more accessible and easier to use.
You will still be able to do everything in F2R that you do now, according to your user rights.
Here are highlights of what’s coming:
For more information about using F2R as of August 31, please refer to the Help page in F2R or to the following publications that will also be available as of that date from FINTRAC’s main Web site:
The new address for F2R as of August 31 will be “https://www6.fintrac-canafe.gc.ca/f2r/”. If you had a bookmark to access F2R, you will need to change it. Also, the first time you go to the new Web site address, you will see a message in your browser regarding the security certificate for the site. Please accept it to be able to get to log on to F2R.
The first change you will notice is that you just need your user ID and your password. You no longer need to enter a reporting entity number. If you are a money services business (MSB), this change will also apply for your log on to the secure MSB registration system.

Log on will take you directly to the “Report to FINTRAC” environment. You can still practice completing reports in the “Practice environment” but you will no longer have to log off to do this. Just select the” Practice environment” from the new Home page or the new Reporting page. When you want to move back to the “Report to FINTRAC” environment, you can also do this from the Home or Reporting page, without logging off.
The first time you log on to the new F2R, you will get the revised F2R user agreement. Once you have accepted it, you will go to the new Home page. If you have logged on with a temporary password, you will first have to change your password.
In addition to system news like before, the new Home page will provide information about your last log on to F2R. This includes any failed attempts since your last log on, so that you will be aware if anyone else attempted to log on as you.

The new Home page will also provide a brief description of F2R’s main components: Administration and Reporting. You can get to each one by selecting the paragraph describing it, or by selecting it from the left menu.
This page will also enable you to access the practice environment, or return to the report to FINTRAC environment as explained above.
As before, you can move from one page to another by using the left menu bar or by using the top menu bar. You will also be able to move around by selecting part of the breadcrumb trail (underneath the top menu bar).
There are also some improvements to how you move around in a report, and these are explained in “Reporting enhancements” below.
You will be able to access quick links to change your password or your own user information on the main page of the Administration section.

The processes for maintenance of information about your organization’s users and locations have been streamlined. Depending on your access rights, select “Users” from the left menu in the Administration section to create a new user or edit information about existing users. Also depending on your access rights, select “Locations” to create a new location or edit information about an existing location.
The process for becoming or assigning a service provider has also been streamlined.
Service providers who do not yet have a service provider number will access “Register as service provider” in the Administration section. Once they have provided that number to their reporting entity client, and the client has designated them as service provider, information about the reports delegated is available to the service provider from “Client maintenance”. As before, the service provider has to accept the delegation of these reports before being able to send reports on behalf of the client.
Clients of service providers will access “Service provider maintenance” to designate a service provider and delegate report types, or revoke a service provider designation.
Here are the main enhancements in the reporting section of F2R.
A new page at the start of the reporting section will have a brief description of each of the main areas within that section. You can get to each area by selecting the paragraph describing it, or by selecting that item in the left menu. You can also access the practice environment, or return to the report to FINTRAC environment, as explained above.

If your user rights include completing or modifying reports, the following will be of interest to you.
To get a blank report to complete, select “New report” in the left menu. Select the report type you wish to create. If you are a service provider, you will need to first indicate the reporting entity for which you are reporting.
If your organization has templates, select “Use template” to complete a report using a template. To create or edit an existing template, select “Template maintenance”.
If you need to find an incomplete report, you can select “Search” from the top menu bar, or “Incomplete reports” from the left menu in the Reporting section. The information for all incomplete reports for the last month will be shown. You can narrow that search by using any of the fields, such as reporting entity report reference number or report type.
When you are completing a report, you will be able to view an outline of the report at any time. You can get this from the drop-down at the top of each part in a report. You can also get it by selecting the report acronym (for example, STR or LCTR) at the top of the left menu or in the breadcrumb (for example, “Home > Reporting > STR”) at the top of the screen. The outline will provide an overview of each part of your report based on the information for the transaction that you have entered so far. To go directly to any part within a particular transaction, select that part’s title in the summary and you will go directly to that screen.
In addition, you will be able to use the new "Previous" button (in addition to the existing "Next" button) at the bottom of each screen for a report part.
If you have to include more than one transaction in a report, you will be able to copy certain parts that are the same from one transaction to another. A “Copy part” button will appear at the top of the screen for each part that you can copy.
When you have to enter the date for a transaction or an individual’s date of birth, you will be able to enter the numbers for year, month and day, separated by a dash, or pick the date from the calendar provided at these fields. For dates of birth, to move back one or more years in the calendar, select the arrow next to the year.
A new “Save” button is included at the top of the screen for each part of any report. Using this button will save information as you enter it in an incomplete report. This will also help refresh the screen and the left menu with changes as appropriate based on the information you have entered.
The “Save” button will not save a permanent copy of the report for your records. To do that, use the left menu item “Keep copy of report”. You will be able to get a PDF version that you can save or print in your own computer configurations.
When you are ready to validate your report before submitting it, the validation screen will present an outline view, showing errors or warnings. To view the error messages and applicable fields, select the part’s title in the validation summary and you will go directly to that screen.
Report queues will be displayed separately according to the type of queue. As explained earlier, incomplete reports will be available from the left menu in the Reporting section. The same is true for reports awaiting verification and reports returned for further action (RRFAs).
If you want to request that a report be returned to you for corrections, you will do this from the Acknowledgements page. When that report is returned by FINTRAC, it will be in the requested for change queue, available from the left menu.
A new report will be added for casinos only to report casino disbursements that occur as of September 28, 2009. If you are a casino (or you report for a casino), you will not be able to actually send this report to FINTRAC unless the disbursement occurs on or after September 28, 2009. However, if you have access to this type of report, you will be able to view and practice completing the new report right away.
